Arcadum Rex: cum templum Neptuni equestris, in monte Halesio, prope Mantineam, vetitus licet, intrâsset, marinae aquae e sacris latebris erumpentis vi subitâ excaecatus, non multo post in venatione a sepe serpente ictus interiit: sepultus est in Sepia, monte Arcadiae. qui in Arcadia apud Cypselum avum maternum fuit educatus, occisô Polyphonte, qui matrem eius invitam duxerat, regnum paternum recuperavit, Apollodor. l. 2. Ab hoc Reges Messeniorum Αἰπυτίδαι sunt appellati, quod et Pausaniae in Messenicis notatum. Eustathius in illud Hom. Il. 2. v. 603.
Οἱ δ᾿ ἔχον Α᾿ρκαδίην, ὑπὸ Κυλλην´ης ὄρος αἰπὐ,

Ε᾿ν μέσῳ inquit, Πελοποννήσῳ ἠ Α᾿ρκαδία, πλείςτην ὀρεινην` ἀποτεμνομένη, μέγιςτον δὲ ὄρος εν αὐτῇ Κυλλην´η. Ο῾ δὲ Αὶπύτιος τύμβος δηλοῖ μὲν τὸν τȏυ Αἰπύτου τάφον. Α᾿ρχαῖος δὲ Α᾿ρκὰς ὁ Α᾿ίπυτος, τȏυ ὁ τύμβος παοώνυμος. Vide Hesych. in Αἰπύτιον. Eius tempore Agis Eurysthenides et Sous Proclides Spartae, Laias vero in Arcadia, regnarunt. Illum vero in regno Messeniaco excepit Glaucus, quem vide. Ab illo successores Aepytidae dicti, ut vidimus: e quorum familia cum primô bellô Messeniacô (quod cum Lacedaemoniis illis intercedebat) virginem immolari Oraculum Delphicum iussisset, Lycisci filia sorte ducta est, quâ profugâ, Aristodemus filiam suam ultro obtulit, Olymp. 3.
